Washington Summers are usually high, in the 90s, with a peak humidity of 70% - 80%. Crowds also peak at this time. Spring can bring much of the same crowds but with more favorable temperatures, this is also the time when the cherry blossoms bloom and line the streets in a beautifully ornate display. Winter temperatures can easily dip into the 20s and 30s, making outdoor activities or family travel a bit more difficult. The best time to go would probably be in early Fall, when crowds and temperatures are mild, and you can still enjoy the changing landscape and Fall foliage. It should be noted, Washington has several popular events and festivals year-round, for music, film, food, art, and even tulips so plan accordingly to those as well.
