US Airways offers direct flights from Charlotte to Hilton Head Airport which is located on Beach City Rd. Savannah International Airport is 45mi away and has a more frequent and cheaper service.
If you are driving, take the I-95 to exit 8 (Hwy 278), which will lead directly to Hilton Head. Hwy 170 to Beaufort is an alternative route full of scenic water views.
You'll need a car to get to the island, but once you're here, there are bike paths connecting most major attractions and shopping areas. Resorts offer bike rentals.
Highway 278 runs from top to toe, accessing all main areas of the island. Several bus services cover this network. Traffic is heavy during the high tourist season.
