The Pan-American Highway is the longest drivable road, stretching from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, to Ushuaia, Argentina. Its astonishing 30,000 miles traverses the United States, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, and Argentina. The only impasse occurs at the 100-mile Darién Gap between Central and South America.
El Valle de Anton, about an hour or so from Panama City, is the planet’s only town created inside the crater of an extinct volcano.
