Overview

Closer to the ground in Kuala Lumpur you will find the stunning Sultan Abdul Samad Building, one of the most venerated structures in the city. Built in the 19th century, it is located in Dataran Merdeka, aka Independence Square, which is the city’s most historic attraction. Located near Kuala Lumpur, otherworldly Batu Caves should not be missed. Here you will find not only caves, but cave temples and one of the most significant Hindu shrines outside India.

What To Do

One of Kuala Lumpur’s most-visited attractions is actually two buildings: The identical Petronas Twin Towers. These modern 88-story marvels were at one time the tallest buildings on Earth, and are still the world’s tallest twin structures. The towers are connected on the 41st and 42nd floors by a sky bridge, which is the world’s highest two-story bridge, and also contain a shopping center. Other must-see sights in the capital city include Menara Kuala Lumpur, one of the Earth’s tallest freestanding towers, where you will find an observation platform and revolving restaurant; and the National Museum of Malaysia, which educates visitors on Malaysian history and culture.
